Ὁ Σόλων ἑκατὸν ἐποίησε δραχμῶν τὴν μνᾶν.

Σόλων, -ωνος, m., the legislator of Athens, 635 - 559 B.C. Fragments of his elegies remain, mostly political and philosophical.
ἑκατόν, (centum, Germ. hundert), a hundred.
ἐποίησε, made.
δραχμῶν, gen. of quality, ‘he made the mina of 100 drachmae’, i.e., he fixed the value of it at 100 drachmae.
μνᾶ, -ᾶς, f., (Lat. mina), a sum of money, about £4 (1873) = 100 drachmae; 60 μναῖ = a talent.
